Bogus Claims From Abs Exercise Equipment Advertisers Revealed
Jes Reynolds asked:
What is it about abs exercise equipment advertising that causes us to “jump on the bandwagon” and believe advertisers claims? Gorgeous ***** and hunks (who I seriously doubt use the product) convince us that their simple, super healthy, “easy to stow away under your bed” piece of ab equipment is the fast solution to fitness and weight loss. It is so tempting, when commercials show how easy it is to use this new ab contraption, not to mention how fast the beautiful models achieved their “6 pack” abs, brilliant smiles, lean and tan figures. Before you know it, you’ve called in your order, purchased the book, and bought the outfit.
To no ones surprise, a recent study done by the American Council on Exercise found that most claims made by ab machine manufacturers are significantly exaggerated, and that typically the equipment stimulated abdominal musculature almost the equally as do crunches or sit-ups.
Does Abs Exercise Equipment Deliver Results?
There are some benefits to using the abs exercise equipment vs. performing regular sit-ups, crunches, and leg lifts. Some studies by fitness equipment manufacturers found that neck and lower-back strain as a common complaint of those doing crunches or sit-ups. Many pieces of ab equipment are intended to eliminate the strain by supporting the neck and controlling the range of motion of the movement.
Many of the pieces of equipment are also inexpensive and include videos and booklets that provide a mini-course in ab conditioning and overall fitness. Having purchased a piece of equipment may also serve as a motivator to workout more often and with more intensity.
In truth, the piece of abs exercise equipment you choose to buy will only serve as a part of the three step process to becoming fit and having a lean and tone mid-section. The real solution to healthy living is a three part plan including nutrition, exercise, and self-image.
There isn’t anything inherently wrong with the various programs that are on the market, or “6 pack” abs. Instead of just buying a new piece of abs exercise equipment, start from within, address your self-image, and then develop a plan for your success that includes a well-rounded exercise and nutrition plan. You will experience renewed strength, energy, and confidence and see your goals achieved!
You can get in shape, lose unwanted body fat, and improve your health beyond what you thought possible!
